Riddle's Elephant and Wildlife Sanctuary is a unique, nonprofit organization - established in 1990 - dedicated to the preservation of both Asian and African elephants. It is currently the only facility to offer sanctuary to any elephant in need, regardless of species, gender, age or disposition. Today the sanctuary houses twelve elephants - Asian and African, males and females of both species.
The Sanctuary promises a safe, permanent home to any elephant. As a result of this unprecedented policy, the elephants here were given a home at the request of various zoos, circuses, and private owners. As the size of our herd increases, so does our need to expand the facilities.
The sanctuary is funded entirely by private donations, so contributions (including in-kind donations such as building materials and equipment) are always welcome!
Your gift helps provide the huge amounts of feed it takes to keep the elephants happy and healthy. A grown elephant eats over two hundred pounds of fodder, and drinks about 50 gallons of water every day - the elephants get a daily bath and routine medical care. All of this costs a lot of money! Your gift will help provide the best care that each elephant needs and deserves.
You can support the elephants by making a donation of:
- $25 a year Individual
- $35 a year Family
- $100 a year Trunk Trustee
- $500 a year Pachyderm Patron
- $1000 (one-time donation) Lifetime
Or by adopting one of the sanctuary's resident elephants.
Please fill out the donation form and send it in with your tax-deductible donation. As a supporter, you will receive our quarterly newsletter and invitations to special events. The elephants really need your attention and support!
Remember to ask your employer if they have a matching donation program. Your support of the elephants could be increased when matched by a contribution from your employer!
If you would like to make an in-kind donation there are many items needed on a daily basis and our wish list includes cleaning tools for the elephant barns (rakes, shovels, pitchforks); rubber feed tubs for the elephants; scrub brushes for the elephants' skin; any extra produce from your garden, as well as office supplies. For more information about our wish list please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
